Meetings also include a Show & Tell session where members can bring interesting items found on a fieldtrip for identification, or show a cab or other lapidary work. Check out the Gallery for images of Show n Tell items, club activities of the past year and fieldtrips.

Meetings are held on the first Sunday of the month, at Claire's Restaurant, 2502 E. William Street, Decatur, IL.
If the first Sunday is a holiday weekend, we meet the following Sunday afternoon.

CIGMC Christmas Party- this is held during our regular December meeting. Date for 2010 is December 5th.

Newsletter- CentrILL Gems is the newsletter of the CIGMC and is published monthly. Regina Kapta is our newsletter editor and webmaster; and she strives each month to report what is happening with our club and include interesting articles for us all to enjoy. CIGMC Show- The Friday, Saturday and Sunday around the 4th weekend of April. This is our show and it is up to each of us to make this show a success. The show is our club’s only means of income, other than our dues which do not cover the cost of federation dues, insurance and the printing and mailing of the newsletter, so pitch in with the show whenever you can. Field Trips - we try to organize one field trip a month and publish it in the newsletter. Field trips are open to members only and are on Saturdays. Some field trips require a safety course prior to the trip, as well as steel toe shoes or boots, safety glasses and hard hats. Junior members must be accompanied by an adult, and there are some sites that do not permit children under 14.

As members of the club you are automatically granted membership with these affiliated regional and national clubs, and these also have shows:

MWF Show- held annually at different dates and places hosted by one of the member clubs.
AFMS Show- held annually at different dates and places hosted by a regional federation.

GESCI Show - usually held the 2nd weekend in March. This is another opportunity to demonstate, volunteer assistance, donate materials and help support this group.
GESCI picnic- the summer meeting organized as a picnic and all members are encouraged to join in the fun.

Membership

Membership & Dues
Annual dues are $15 for an individual and $20 for a family or couple and are due April 1st of each year. Youth members are invited at a discounted rate.

Members receive a newsletter and are invited to attend many "club only" field trips and events during the year. In addition, membership is automatically extended to our members into the
American Federation of Mineralogical Societies and the regional Midwest Federation of Mineralogical & Geological Societies. This expands our member's opportunities to attend fieldtrips, shows, swaps and other opportunities not usually available to the general public.

If you are interested in joining the club, please fill out the Membership Form, available as a download as a pdf.

Please also download and mail the Interest Survey PDF to give the Club an idea of the interests you have, so we may tailor our programs and fieldtrips to appeal to as many of our members as possible.
